Tottenham Hotspur spent the better part of January luring Adama Traore to north London.
And with a relatively dismal record of goals and assists, it is the Spain international’s speed alone that has captivated Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici.
In the end, Tottenham failed to land the Wolves winger who joined Barcelona on loan.
However, Spurs could still sign the player’s centre-back equivalent – well, in terms of pace and acceleration.
In December, Eurosport reported that the Lilywhites are interested in signing Antonio Rudiger.
Ruediger will leave Chelsea on a free transfer at the end of the season.
And incredibly, the Germany international has been the fastest player in the Premier League this season – and yes, even faster than Traore.
According to Opta, Rüdiger has the highest top speed ever measured this season at 36.7 kilometers per hour.
That’s enough to edge out Traore and Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, whose top speed was 36.6km/h.
It’s frankly insane that a centre-back has been the Premier League’s fastest player this season and that’s another reason for Tottenham to sign him.
Let’s not forget that Rudiger has been exceptionally good in west London since Thomas Tuchel took over the blues.
And the fact that he’s also something of a speed demon will only add interest.
