St Helens’ Lucy Renshall ends the year at the IJF World Masters

ECCLESTON’s Lucy Renshall is among the nine-strong UK squad traveling to Jerusalem for the final event of the 2020 Judo World Tour calendar – in traditional fashion with the IJF World Masters.

The Tokyo Olympian heads to Israel for the competition as world number one after a string of Grand Slam gold medals she collected in 2022.

Renshall, a product of the SKK club, rose to the top of the world rankings in June and has not lost that position since.

She competes on Wednesday and gets a bye in the opening round before meeting Renata Zachova (CZE) in Round 2.

The event offers 200 world ranking points for qualifying only, which will be invaluable for Olympic qualifying in Paris.
