There’s a reason Megan Thee Stallion is said to have earned $13 million last year. The Houston hottie doesn’t have time for a break, she says forbes in the cover story for her yearly 30 under 30 list. Although this is her second time on the list, Megan is the first black woman to grace the spread!

“I can’t slow down now. I take a break when I’m dead. I’m trying to really build something.” Megan adds, “When I start to sit, I feel like I’m not doing enough or giving someone else an opportunity to get ahead of me.”

Meg has charged everything from $500 for performances in her hometown to collaborations with music greats like Beyoncé and Nicki Minaj, accolade awards, sane streams, and big gigs. Corresponding forbesthis last year Megan’s millions came from royalties, ticket sales, endorsements and merchandise.

But those aren’t the only streams feeding Meg’s bank accounts. The Houston rapper has also signed endorsement deals with Nike, Revlon, Cash App and Popeyes.

Stacy Taffet, Frito-Lay’s Director of Marketing, revealed her estimated $2 million Super Bowl campaign starring Megan and Charlie Puth for Flamin’ Hot Cheetos “surpassed” many of their past projects – which have exceeded their expectations.

Before Megan sells anything to her fan base called Hotties, she makes sure she has them “Own space and own track.” As part of her CashApp deal, Megan directed a series of financial literacy videos for a younger audience. Meanwhile, her nearly $1 million deal with Popeyes earned her a one-of-a-kind “Hottie Sauce” and $250,000 to open her own Popeyes restaurant.

Megan faces business and personal hurdles

While Megan’s pockets made gains this year, other sectors, from business to personal, have been hit. Jury selection is ongoing in the trial of Tory Lanez, who is accused of causing bodily harm to Megan by allegedly shooting her in July 2020.

Additionally, over the past year, we’ve seen Megan divulge details online about her ongoing business dispute with her record label, 1501 Certified Entertainment. She signed with the Houston-based label in 2018 for a $50,000 advance.

In the years since Meg sued the label for $1 million in royalties and exchanged insults with CEO Carl Crawford online. According to leaked information received from forbes,1501 retains 60% of Meg’s royalties, along with 50% of publishing revenues and 30% of touring and sponsorships. Still, the label insists Megan is the person who owes them about $10 million in profit shares.

Most recently, the rapper has been trending on social media following the release of Drake and 21 Savage’s album your loss. Megan called out to Drake for allegedly mentioning her shooting with Tory in the Circo Loco track. Drake has not publicly responded to Megan or clarified the meaning of the line. “This bitch lies about getting shots, but she’s still a stud.”

Meg’s album, tour & documentary in the works

Despite the label drama and the looming criminal case, Megan Thee Stallion is already loading up on her 2023 schedule. According to Roc Nation CEO Desiree Perez, the Houston star has a studio album and a world tour in 2023 – although no dates have been announced.

She also signed a deal with Netflix to create and produce several shows, including a comedy about her childhood. Also, Time Inc. has written a $3 million check to produce a documentary about Megan’s life.
