Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard has further praised Liverpool’s outgoing sporting director Michael Edwards BT Sports (6:48 p.m. May 28, 2022) for his role in Anfield club’s recent success.
Gerrard, a Liverpool legend, has said fans of the Merseyside club love and adore Edwards for what he has done.
The Villa boss has added that people outside of Liverpool don’t understand how important Edwards has been to Liverpool’s recent success.

Edward’s is leave Liverpool as sporting director of the Premier League club this summer with Julian Ward as his successor.
He first joined Liverpool in November 2011 and has been instrumental in signing the likes of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Alisson.

From our point of view, Michael Edwards has done an excellent job as sporting director at Liverpool FC.
Yes, we have to commend Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp and the players for winning the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup in recent years, but the side behind the scenes have done exceptionally well.
And Michael Edwards was a big figure in the background.
