Strictly Come Dancing: Helen Skelton expresses doubts about winning

Helen Skelton has expressed her doubts about Strictly Come Dancing winning during this weekend’s finals.

The 39-year-old TV presenter will compete against Hamza Yassin, Molly Rainford and Fleur East and their professional dance partners in the final round of the ballroom competition on Saturday.

During an appearance on Friday’s It Takes Two, Helen admitted she felt she had gotten as far as she could in the competition.

She explained: “We’d love to win this trophy, but I feel like we’ve already won it.

“We had such an adventure, and I’ve said it before, it’s you [dance partner Gorka Marquez] a credit to the show and a credit to your family.

“We’ve had the ups, the downs and everything in between and this is just a reminder for us to feel the fear and do it anyway.”

It comes after Helen said she “found my confidence” doing Strictly Come Dancing.

Ahead of this weekend’s BBC One Latin and Ballroom competition finale, the former Blue Peter presenter has opened up about her Strictly journey and how she hopes the show will encourage viewers to step out of their own “comfort zones”.

Speaking to the press ahead of this weekend’s grand finale, she said: “I’ve definitely found my confidence on this dance floor and I’m enjoying it and that’s what it was about. I think we get so many messages every week from people sharing things about their lives and that’s the ultimate thing that humbles us.

“It’s a privilege to be in people’s living rooms on a Saturday night and it’s a privilege when they share things and when a person was like, ‘Oh, I’m going to step out of my comfort zone,’ or ‘I’ll be.’ take on something difficult, “that we’ve done our job.”

The TV star, who is hoping to land a six-figure presenting deal after the show, described her time at Strictly as “wonderfully liberating and liberating”.

She said: “It’s a wonderfully liberating thing for anyone to feel in control of themselves and what they’re doing. So I don’t think it’s about being sexy. I think it’s about being confident in your own skin and being who you are.”
