Strictly Come Dancing’s Kaye Adams has revealed that performing “sultry” dance moves on the show will “test her to her limits”.
The Loose Women presenter, 59, is one of 15 contestants to take part in the BBC dance show and ahead of the first live show on Saturday, Kaye opened up about how she needed to “loosen up” after telling herself she was been a “garbage” dancer for over 40 years.
The channel also admitted she signed up to shake off any negativity about her age, admitting it would be easy for her to turn down the program as she approaches 60.
Uh oh: Strictly Come Dancing’s Kaye Adams has revealed that performing ‘sultry’ dance moves on the show will ‘test her to her limits’
When asked what she thought her biggest challenge at Strictly would be, Kaye confided it was her insecurities on the dance floor, having always considered herself a “shy person” and a bad dancer.
She explained: “I just need to loosen up a bit. I mean, it’s the irony of an easygoing woman. I’ve always been a pretty reserved person. I’ve told myself I’ve been a trash dancer for 40 years and that sinks in and so you have this perception of yourself.
Thinking about showing her sexy side on the dance floor, she continued, “I suppose it’s the dances that really push me out of my comfort zone.
Dancefloor phobias: Kaye opened up about how she had to “loosen up” after convincing herself she was a “garbage” dancer for over 40 years
“I mean, everything will be out of my comfort zone, but some of it will be like going to the North Pole in flip flops! So I guess the Paso Doble and all that wobbly muggy stuff is going to test me to the limit.’
A driving force for the star in truly embracing the Strictly experience was that she was able to clear up any doubts that she wasn’t the right age to participate, and Kaye added that she’s always been jealous of those who do could move well.
She said: “Well this is the last year of my 50s. It would be easy to say no and you go through all those doubts in your head.
Admission: The channel also admitted she signed on to shake off any negativity about her age and admitted she would have no trouble turning down the program as she approaches 60
“And then you think Strictly is a phenomenon and everyone loves it. It’s an incredible experience. Despite the fact that I can’t dance, there’s always something on my mind when I see people dancing and I envy them a bit for that.”
She continued, “If you’re being offered something like this, you’re either thinking, why should I do it? Or you’re like, why shouldn’t I? And I fell to the side of why I shouldn’t, and here I am.
The Scottish presenter will be following in the footsteps of several of her Loose Women co-stars, who have shared tips for their time on the show.
Kaye said; “I’ve gotten a lot of great advice from my colleagues at Loose Women, Ruth Langsford advising me to take a ‘lady’ bag to rehearsals because ‘it can get a bit sweaty'”.
Candid: I just need to loosen up a bit. I mean, it’s the irony of an easygoing woman. I’ve always been a pretty reserved person. I told myself I’ve been a trash dancer for 40 years.
“Judi Love, Sunetra Sarker, Katie Piper, Gloria Hunniford and Frankie Bridge were also great, but they all agree that the most important thing is to just enjoy every moment!”
