‘Teacher of the Year’ Abuses Former Students: Cops

A former “Teacher of the Year” in San Diego County, California, faces multiple felonies for allegedly sexually abusing a student under the age of 14 after the victim’s mother sensed something was wrong and her suspicions to the police reported, say police officers.
The National City Police Department on Wednesday announced the investigation into the lewd and lewd behavior, two days after the concerned mother contacted her. The suspect, 34-year-old sixth grade teacher Jacquline Ma, has been identified as the victim’s former teacher, leaving parents at Lincoln Acres Elementary stunned and disgusted.
“On the evening of March 6, 2023, the National City Police Department was contacted by a concerned parent who suspected their 13-year-old child may have had an inappropriate relationship with a former teacher. National City Police detectives and school resource officers immediately began investigating the allegation,” police said. “On the morning of March 7, 2023, officers developed a probable cause to arrest Jacqueline Ma (age 34), a current teacher at Lincoln Acres Elementary in National City.”
The defendant now faces six felonies, alleging three counts of lewd and lascivious acts against a victim under the age of 14 and three counts of oral copulation with a child under the age of 14.
California law states that “a person who willfully and lewdly commits an indecent or lascivious act […] on or with the body, or any part or limb thereof, of a child under the age of 14, with intent to arouse, appeal to or satisfy the lust, passions or sexual desires of that person or child , commits a felony and shall be punished with imprisonment sentenced to three, six, or eight years in state prison.”
The defendant reportedly posted $100,000 bail and was released from Las Colinas Women’s Detention Center.

Fox 5 San Diego reported that the defendant is a married woman who has taught at Lincoln Acres Elementary since 2013. According to reports, a sign with the award “Teacher of the Year” was displayed outside the house until her arrest.
Ma was one of five county teachers to be honored for their classroom efforts in 2022. Just six months ago, KUSI released a video interview of the defendant: “San Diego Teacher of the Year Jacqueline Ma explains how she comes into contact with distracted students.”
“Today law enforcement arrived at the Lincoln Acres campus at approximately 8:00 a.m. and arrested sixth grade teacher Jacquie Ma on charges of having a physically inappropriate relationship with a former student,” Leigangela Brady told parents in one Letter. CBS 8 reports. “The arrest took place on campus but was remote from students as both law enforcement and our on-site staff worked together to ensure student learning and the campus climate was not disrupted. We can confirm that the student is no longer attending our school and we can assure you that we will do everything we can to assist in the investigation.”
Three days ago — the night the concerned mother went to the police with allegations against Ma — the superintendent recognized another 2023 honoree as “Teacher of the Year,” calling her an “inspiration.”
