Ted Lasso Season 3 debut references two iconic Nintendo games

Here we go! Looks like Ted Lasso is a Nintendo fan too.

Season 3 of Ted Lasso has finally arrived, and with it came a lot of pop culture references, like a callback to last season’s unreal but kinda real Bantr dating app and lots of movie references. Alongside this, there were even two legendary Nintendo franchises that received a cool name drop.

While all Super Smash Bros. games have ways to unlock characters, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate gives players an idea of ​​who they unlock based on the challenge they do, so unlocking Peach was indeed accurate.

The second reference was arguably one of the most successful and acclaimed Nintendo games in recent memory, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of Wild. Right after Ted talks about Smash Bros: The flight attendant says, “That’s ok. I once held an entire flight hostage until I finished the last level of Breath of the Wild.”
