Ted Lasso Star reveals what may be the final season of season three

I think that makes me sad.

Pretty sad news for all the Ted Lasso fans out there, but it looks like the show is coming to an end with Season 3. This has been rumored for a while but now it has been confirmed by Jason Sudeikis, the actor who plays the main character. That’s certainly a bummer to many, but there’s a silver lining that he shares.

In Deadline’s exclusive edition, Sudeikis says, “This is the end of this story that we wanted to tell, that we hoped to tell, that we wanted to tell.” While it’s sad that it’s coming to an end, at least the cast is leaving and crew happy for the journey and glad they were able to tell the full story as intended.

The end of this series doesn’t close the door on potential spin-offs either, and Sudeikis encourages that in another quote shared by Deadline.

Yeah, I think we set the table for all sorts of people… to see these stories continue to be told,” he said. “Again, I can’t help but take the question as flattery for what all of us who worked on the show tried to do. It’s really nice of people to think about it because you never know what’s going to happen when you make things. The fact that people want more, even if it’s a different path, is nice

One of the creators behind Ted Lasso, Bill Lawrence is no stranger to creating hugely popular television. He was the mastermind behind the medical comedy hit Scrubs. There’s all the right talent here to see if there’s more story to be told in a spin-off, so only time will tell.

But at the same time, Sudeiki’s words also give the series a nice sense of closure, and suggest that fans might feel that way too when all 12 episodes of Season 3 release on March 15th.
