Teen killed in Oldham County crash while pursuing stolen car

A young person was killed in a crash when a suspect fled from police in Oldham County, according to Kentucky State Police. KSP said a trooper attempted to stop a vehicle traveling south on Interstate 71 around 3:30 p.m. Saturday. Police say the driver did not stop and continued south at high speed before exiting at Exit 14. This exit leads to Crestwood and Peewee Valley. While exiting the exit, the vehicle struck an SUV traveling north on Kentucky Highway 329, according to police. KSP said a juvenile in the SUV died as a result of the crash. The driver of the SUV was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver who fled from police, 23-year-old Tymetrius Walter, was taken into custody at the scene and charged with murder, wanton endangerment, obtaining stolen property, first-degree assault and several traffic offenses. KSP said that during the pursuit they determined the call was stolen. The age and gender of the young victim have not been revealed at this time. This is an ongoing investigation. Walter is being held at the Oldham County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in court on September 25th.
