Teenager in court for Knowsley disorder
Jarad Skeete, 19, of Irwell Close, Aigburth, Liverpool, is charged with violent disorder and assault by hitting an emergency worker.
He was among 15 people arrested in connection with Friday night’s incident outside the Suites Hotel in Knowsley, which houses asylum seekers.
The other 14 people were released on bail.
During the evening, rockets carrying detonated firecrackers were reportedly thrown at officers and a police car was attacked by perpetrators who allegedly used hammers before setting it on fire.
A police officer and two passers-by were slightly injured.
Skeete has been remanded in custody and will appear before the Wirral Adult Coroner’s Court on Monday 13 February.
In a statement, Merseyside Police said: “We are continuing to collect all available evidence and are asking anyone with any information, images or footage to contact @MerPolCC anonymously on 0800 555 111 or Crimestoppers at reference 23000121093.
“We would like to remind people once again to forward this information directly to the police, as speculation and comments on social media can jeopardize live investigations.”
