Teenagers accused of weeks-long brothel robbery in western Sydney and Wollongong

Three teenagers have been charged after they allegedly staged a rampage robbery at six brothels, in which workers were threatened with an ax and a knife.

An employee was reportedly stabbed in the leg, while another alleged victim was hit several times in the head during the killing spree in western Sydney and Wollongong last month.

Detectives from the NSW State Crime Command’s Robbery and Felon Squad formed Strike Force Generation to investigate four robberies and two attempted robberies.

Five of the incidents were allegedly committed in a single night in the early hours of February 15, police said.

Two of the boys allegedly started the crime before 2am on February 8 at a shop on West Street in Wollongong.

The teenagers allegedly threatened a 54-year-old employee with a knife and demanded cash before stabbing the man in the leg and fleeing the premises.

Another brothel in Pendle Hill, western Sydney, was attacked a week later at around 1.30am on 15 February, where two workers were said to have been threatened with a knife.

Two boys are said to have demanded cash threatened one of the employees with an ax before taking off in a white ute.

About 45 minutes later, a 61-year-old clerk at a shop on Alan Street in Fairfield, southwest of the city, was allegedly confronted with two teenagers, one wielding an ax and the other a knife.

They allegedly stole cash and a cellphone before fleeing in the white ute.

A 34-year-old man was said to have been threatened with a knife and ax shortly afterwards at a brothel on Christina Road in Villawood.

He was reportedly hit on the head several times before the couple allegedly took off with stolen cash and an electronic tablet.

Two other brothels were the target of attempted armed robberies in Clyde and Rydalmere later that morning, police said.

A house in Marayong, west Sydney, was searched by Strike Force detectives on Thursday and two boys, aged 16 and 17, were arrested.

The 17-year-old was charged with eight offenses including robbery/attempted robbery with an assault weapon, theft and dishonestly obtaining financial benefit through deception.

The 16-year-old is facing similar charges after being stabbed with nine offences.

A third 16-year-old teenager was arrested later in the day at a house in Kyeemagh, south Sydney, and taken to Kogarah Police Station.

He was accused of similar offenses.

Everyone there was denied to appear before the children’s courts on Friday.
