Drugs and weapons were allegedly discovered in an overnight raid on an Adelaide hotel room, which led to the arrest of nine teenagers.
South Australian Police – including the Crime Gangs Task Force, Operation Meld detectives investigating youth gangs, and Special Tasks and Rescue Officers – visited the Franklin Street Hotel early Sunday morning.
Officers searched the suite and allegedly found methamphetamine and a set of knives, which were confiscated for further investigation.
An 18-year-old Craigmore man and a 17-year-old Blakeview boy have been charged with trafficking a controlled drug and breaching bail.
A few hours later, in another incident (pictured), a number of weapons were found during a nearby car search.
A 16-year-old boy from Elizabeth Vale has been charged with carrying an obnoxious weapon and violating a bail.
A 17-year-old Craigmore boy has been charged with false declarations of state and violating bail and has an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
A 17-year-old Victorian boy has been arrested on a warrant.
While the remaining four – a 19-year-old Burton man, an 18-year-old Salisbury man, a 17-year-old Munno Para West boy and a 17-year-old Andrews Farm boy – have all been charged with violating bail.
A few hours later, in a separate incident around 5.30am, a driver who suffered a burnout on Hindley Street was tailed by police – but the car was later found abandoned in West Hindmarsh, on the west side of the city.
A search of the white Ford sedan, which had run out of fuel, also turned up an array of weapons, including knives and baseball bats, and the dog unit was called in to help search the area.
A 20-year-old female passenger has been issued with a cannabis fine and a 17-year-old male passenger is expected to face gun charges.
The driver has not been found and anyone with information is asked to contact police.
