Melissa Gorga and Teresa Giudice

In the second episode of season 13 of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, drama erupted a few months earlier between Teresa Giudice and Melissa Gorga over the seating arrangement at Giudice’s engagement party.

The engagement party took place in December 2021, before filming for RHONJ season 13 began, but it became the subject of the show when the Gorgas shared their thoughts on not getting seats at the family table. Giudice commented on the debacle on the Feb. 15 episode of her podcast: “Namaste B$tches‘ told her co-host Melissa Pfeister that she was ‘incredulous’.

Giudice shared that the engagement party took place on December 5, 2021 and after that everything was great between her and the Gorgas. She then invited her brother and sister-in-law over to her home for Christmas Eve, which she thinks went well too. The Gorgas later accepted her invitation to have cake at their home to celebrate their daughter Gia’s birthday in January.

“And now we’re filming the show, that was in May, late May, went into June, and now she’s bringing up the engagement party [and] where she was sitting?” asked Giudice on her podcast. “I thought, am I in the twilight zone? … Why is she putting that in front of the camera?”

Teresa Giudice shared her take on the seating at her engagement party

Giudice gave her her perspective on what was going on at her engagement party and told her podcast Listeners that she only had two tables at the event and that Joe and Melissa Gorga should be seated right next to her and Luis “Louie” Ruelas at her table.

Giudice explained that her nephews were sitting at the other table with some of her daughters, so Melissa Gorga asked Giudice’s assistant if she could sit with her boys. “So then [my assistant] moved her seats and got her whole family together where the boys sat,” Giudice shared.

She said that when she arrived at the event and realized it, she was surprised and approached her brother and sister-in-law to say, “Guys, I just want you guys to know that you should be sitting next to Louie and me. The RHONJ star said her brother replied, “Don’t worry, this is your day, just enjoy your day, all good,” and that was the last she heard of it until filming began months later.

The episode ended with Melissa Gorga and Teresa Giudice in the middle of an argument about the situation

During the episode, Joe Gorga spoke to Melissa Gorga about her relationship with Giudice deteriorating, and Joe Gorga mentioned that he felt “weird” at the engagement party. He said they were placed on the other table and “shocked” by it. Later in the episode, Gorga made claims about his sister’s relationship with Ruelas, saying it felt like adding fuel to the fire.

The episode ended in the middle of a fight between Melissa Gorga and Giudice, while the cast was at a mozzarella cheese party with newcomer Danielle Cabral. Margaret Josephs brought up Giudice’s seating issue at her engagement party, to which Giudice said the Gorgas were at her table and had decided to move, but that she didn’t want to dwell on it again.

Gorga seemed shocked by her claim and accused Giudice of lying about the situation. She claimed Giudice even approached her during the event to apologize for putting her at the table away from the family and asked her not to make a big deal of it. The argument escalated when Gorga yelled at Giudice to stop “kissing me” and blamed her for things.

Giudice told Gorga that family is “everything” to her, and Gorga replied, “I’m so sick of this! Stop saying ‘family, family, family’!” The episode ended with the two women arguing with no resolution in sight.

New episodes of RHONJ air Tuesdays at 9 p.m. Eastern and Pacific Time on Bravo.
