It was reported last weekend that Arsenal could try to land Philippe Coutinho after his loan from Aston Villa.
Coutinho has been a revelation since his Premier League return in January.
Despite speculation of a move to Arsenal, Steven Gerrard, his former Liverpool team-mate, brought him to Villa Park.
And that’s despite a difficult four years on Barcelona’s books following a £142million transfer in 2018 [BBC Sport]the 29-year-old still has it.
Since returning to England, the Brazilian maestro has netted four goals and three assists in 10 Premier League games.

However, Coutinho has hinted via Brazilian media that his long-term future lies with Aston Villa and revealed he is writing his next chapter in the Midlands.
He agreed Global Sports: “I have a beautiful history at Liverpool, I was happy there, now I’m starting to make a history at Aston Villa. I’m happy to be able to play as well in England as I did in Italy, Spain and Germany.”
Unfortunately for Arsenal, it looks like Coutinho would be happy at Villa – and why shouldn’t he be?
Playing under a former team-mate, he’s finally enjoying his football again and the fans at Villa Park adore him.
It’s been a while but Coutinho is a great player for someone again and despite the north Londoners being a bigger club it looks like the South American wizard is more concerned with improved form than club stature these days to be satisfied.
