Callum Wilson spoke to him BBC about the Newcastle team and their trip to Dubai where he made a claim about Joelinton.
What’s the matter?
Well, Eddie Howe and the Newcastle players are currently in Dubai while the Magpies are looking for closure after losses to Chelsea and Everton.
The warm-weather training camp is also a good way for the players to bond and that’s what Wilson and Joelinton appear to be doing.
In conversation with the BBCthe 20 million pounds Mann said: “Joelinton is definitely someone you see everywhere and his English is pretty good, but if you get him around in an environment where you’re by the pool and you’re laughing and joking a little bit, everyone’s together. What a guy, what a character.
“It made me like him even more as a person and as a player. He’s definitely one that’s caught my eye since we’ve been here as a team and I’ve enjoyed his company.”
Obviously Wilson and Joelinton’s relationship improved while Newcastle were in Dubai, which is great to hear.
Of course the training aspect is the most important as survival in the Premier League is not yet assured.
But personal relationships can also be important on the pitch, so it’s gratifying to see the two forwards get along well.
Joelinton is thriving at Newcastle
At one point the Brazilian was arguably one of the most disliked men on Tyneside as he struggled to score after scoring £40 million Change from TSG Hoffenheim.
However, the 25-year-old persevered through the tough times and is now admirably one of the most popular characters at St James’ Park.
Some supporters were even spotted wearing t-shirts adorned with Joelinton’s face!
We think he deserves huge credit for staying focused on Tyneside and continuing to work hard – there was a clear desperation to change his situation and boy did he do it.
Hopefully he continues to gain strength under Howe.
