Mattias Svanberg spoke express on his future, with Tottenham and Manchester City keen to sign him.
What’s the matter?
Well, the Scandinavian news outlet mentions that Manchester City are watching the 23-year-old, although they were Calciomercato who claimed Spurs were interested.
Now, however, Svanberg has poured cold water on a move away from Bologna.
The Swedish international told express: “At the moment I have no plan. I feel very comfortable in Bologna and I have one year left on my contract, so I’m not in a hurry. I take it as it comes. I love to play and there’s a good chance I’ll stay, but of course you can be sold. It depends on how I keep performing. We have not started a negotiation phase.”
Antonio Conte and Pep Guardiola will not like that.
Svanberg seems very content with life in Serie A and why shouldn’t he be?
The No.32 from Bologna plays 90 minutes most weeks and is a key player for the side under Siniša Mihajlović.
Tottenham and Manchester City still have a chance
As Svanberg notes, his contract expires in June 2023, putting Bologna in a precarious position.
The Swede admits that negotiations between him and the Serie A team have yet to start, which is very interesting news.
In our opinion, Bologna should start talks with Svanberg immediately – if they don’t agree on a deal, they will be forced to sell him this summer or risk losing him for nothing in 2023.
In contrast, their lack of urgency could also be a worrying sign for Tottenham and Manchester City as it could suggest they are comfortable finding a quick deal.
Nevertheless, the Italians certainly do well.
Keep an eye on this saga as Tottenham and Manchester City could test Bologna’s resolve with a bid.
