Rennes manager Bruno Genesio has distanced himself from speculation about a shock move to Premier League trio Tottenham Hotspur, Everton and Wolves and spoke to him FootMercato.

You may have noticed that all of the above Prem clubs currently have a manager. But how safe are Antonio Conte, Bruno Lage and Frank Lampard really?

Conte is never too far from another existential crisis. Lage was recently “flattered” by the apparent interest of Brazilian giants Corinthians.

And who would really blame Lampard when he gets cold feet over an Everton side who seem to be a magnet for drama and negative headlines at the moment?

Perhaps that’s why Genesio has been sounded out by a trio of Premier League clubs RMC Sports. You know, just in case.

The 55-year-old former Lyon coach is doing a superb job at Rennes, making the Brittany club the most watchable side in France with their Champions League in mind.

Rennes is also the division’s top scorer, ahead of Paris Saint-Germain.

Will Bruno Genesio go to the Premier League?

“With all the information about me and the players, you always have to step back and focus on the job,” Genesio said on Friday when asked about the rumours.

“I don’t know at all (if the interest is real). I don’t have any concrete information on anything. What I do know is that I’m good at Stade Rennais. There are still nine games to play this season. And I still have a year of contract. I don’t pay attention to these things.”

“I’m interested in dedicating myself to my work so that we can be as efficient as possible by the end of the season.

“Three things are important in my job. The sport project, the human project and our personal ambitions. I’m happy to be here. All goes well.

“Obviously everyone loves English football and everyone would like to play or train there one day. But I’m fully involved in the Stade Rennais project and I have no reason to think about anything else, either now or in the near future. On the other hand.”

That’s it then.

A few years from now it might be impossible for Genesio to turn down a Premier League opportunity. At the moment he is happy and has settled on the other side of the English Channel.
