The accused is the boyfriend of the Yanco woman who was killed in a car accident with three children

The boyfriend of a woman who died in a horrific car crash with three children has been charged with domestic violence offenses said to have happened shortly before the tragedy.

Tania Murphy, 36, was driving with two of her three children, Nathaniel, 11, and Jeremiah, 10, and her nephew, 12, near the intersection of Research Road and Toorak Road in Yanco, near 11.15pm Tuesday from Leeton in southern NSW.

All four were killed after the mother’s car hit a pole and then hurtled down an embankment into a water channel before landing upside down.

Ms Murphy’s boyfriend Dean Ingram, 32, and his mother Wendy Chattaway, 50, were arrested on Wednesday as part of an investigation into the fatal accident. She has since been released without charge.

While no charges have been filed in connection with the fatal accident, Mr Ingram faces two counts of stalking with intent to cause harm and one count of aggravated burglary and entry.

“Murrumbidgee Police District officers have been advised that the back door of a home on Cudgel Street, Yanco, was allegedly kicked in just after 11pm on Tuesday (4 April 2023) and a resident was threatened,” NSW Police said in a statement .

“About 15 minutes later, a vehicle traveling down Research Road swerved off the road and crashed, resulting in the deaths of a 36-year-old woman and three boys, aged 10, 11 and 12.”

He was denied bail to appear in Griffith Magistrates Court on Thursday.

Ms. Murphy and the three boys, who lived just 2 miles from the Yanco crash site, died at the scene before paramedics arrived.

Daily Mail Australia can also reveal that Ms Murphy has a nine-year-old daughter who was not in the vehicle at the time of the devastating accident.

Police cordoned off Ms Murphy’s home, which is owned by the Leeton and Districts Aboriginal Corporation, on Wednesday.

Mark Sins, a close family friend, told Daily Mail Australia that luckily Ms Murphy’s daughter was not in the car at the time.

He said Ms Murphy has a relationship with his brother, who is not the children’s father.

“The kids were beautiful and my mom was amazing to me — always on top of my case and saying, ‘Are you alright?'” he said.

“She gave me a roof over my head.

‘[My brother] was happy and it hurts to see him now.’

Julieanne Abraham, who says she is Ms Murphy’s best friend, said she had to tell the dead woman’s daughter that she had died.

“She was the best mother, best friend and best wife I have ever met,” said Mrs. Abraham.

“I spoke to her just yesterday and had to tell her daughter that she wasn’t coming home.

“She was great, we had a lot of fun spending time together – the kids used to call me nanny – we were all one big family.
