The Magpies are now among the richest clubs in Europe and could easily afford to pay Watford’s asking price for the Senegalese international.
Interestingly, that number will fall if Watford are relegated to the Championship, which is quite likely at the moment.
The Hornets are 19th in the Premier League, three points behind 17th-placed Everton.
The 24-year-old has scored so far this season five goals in 17 Premier League appearances and an assist at the same time.
He also scored a and helped another in it three Played at the Africa Cup of Nations in January and helped Senegal win the trophy.
Sarr is arguably one of the best players outside of the top six and whoever signs him this summer will face a dangerous offensive threat.
Liverpool & Newcastle have given a boost
In addition to Calciomercato‘s update, Sarr’s agent – Thierno Seydi – revealed Watford has agreed to sell his No. 23 at the right price.
Speak with APS, said Seydi: “We have a good exit plan. Nothing in Watford’s strategy will stop him if the offer is attractive, but only the future will tell where he will go. Right now there’s rumours, interest, but really nothing concrete.”
Therefore, even if Watford manages to stay in the Premier League, Sarr already appears to have an agreement with the Hornets to leave.
By all reports, the former Rennes winger is playing his last few games for Watford with a transfer now very likely.
Keep an eye on this saga as Sarr would be a fantastic signing for either Liverpool or Newcastle.
In other news, Ian Wright says the Leeds player is good enough for the CL but he “should stay for a while”.
