The ailing Giants are looking to turn things around away from the Cubs

The San Francisco Giants have been in a downtrend for more than four weeks and are struggling to win away from home.

“Honestly, it’s no different than it’s been all year,” Crawford said after Sunday’s loss. “We’ve been persistent all season. We played good baseball before we came here. … It’s kind of on track, year-round, with ups and downs.”

“This club manages really well not to worry about the rollercoaster ride of the season. Just look to the next day and try to win a game.”

Chicago won 10 of 13 games before suffering back-to-back walk-off losses at the hands of the Reds.

But the Boy were undeterred by disappointment on Sunday as they scored 18 goals in a 15-7 win over Cincinnati to earn a split from a four-game streak.

It was the ninth time since the All-Star break that the Boy Scored 10 or more runs in a game, including four outings of at least 15.

Chicago scored seven goals in the eighth inning of Sunday’s offensive show.

“I feel like how our offense is going – it starts with a soft single here and a soft single there, and then we continue to put together good attacks and that feels kind of contagious.” Boy said outfielder Mike Tauchman after the win.

Tauchman was 4 of 6 with three runs and three RBIs. Ian Happ was 3 of 4 with four RBIs and Cody Bellinger hit his 23rd home run in a three RBI day.

This week is significant for Chicago as they have three games against Chicago Giants A four-game home series against the Diamondbacks follows.

“We are in control of our own destiny” Boy manager David Ross told reporters.

Monday’s schedule sees a solid pitching duel pitting Chicago left-hander Justin Steele (15-3, 2.69 ERA) against Giants Right-hander Logan Webb (9-11, 3.49).

Steele, 28, went 8-11 in his first two seasons in the big league before making the breakthrough. Steele was named to the NL All-Star team and is part of the NL Cy Young race this year.

He is 6-0 with a 3.09 ERA in his last eight starts. Steele has 54 strikeouts and 11 walks in 46 2/3 innings during that span.

Steele defeated the Milwaukee Brewers last Tuesday when he conceded six hits in six scoreless innings.

However, he is 0-2 with a 4.15 ERA in two career starts against the Giants. Wilmer Flores is 3 of 4 with a home run against Steele, while Austin Slater (3 of 6) and Paul DeJong (3 of 8) also did well.

Webb is winless in his last five starts. He’s 0-2 with a 3.69 ERA during the stretch and lost to the Reds on Wednesday when he conceded two runs and seven hits over six innings.

The 26-year-old Webb is 2-0 with a 4.85 ERA in two career starts against the Boy. Happ has 3 of 6 with a home run against Webb while Bellinger has only 4 of 21.
