The Australian-born Saints fan meets the squad and celebrates in the dressing room

Born in Brisbane to St Helens parents, Harry Hulse is “rugby league crazy” and watches every Saints game while living Down Under.

Harry’s father Dom first got a chance to see Saints when they faced Penrith Panthers in the World Club Challenge and got in touch with the club to see if he could meet the team.

Saints, and CEO Mike Rush in particular, “couldn’t have done better,” Dom said when Harry was invited to have full roster access at the Captain’s Run training session the day before the World Club Challenge.

He was then invited to be the official ball boy in the front row at the Penrith game and with his Access all Areas pass he was allowed to party with Saints on the field and sing a victory song with the record breakers in the dressing room.

Dom, who is originally from Newton-le-Willows, said: “When we found out the Saints were coming to compete in the World Club Challenge, we just couldn’t go.

“I’ve contacted the club to try and make it even more special for Harry as it was his very first Saints game and I can’t speak more about them.

“He spent a couple of hours on the training ground the day before the game and all the players were signing his shirt and making a fuss of him.

“And then to be an official ball boy and get to party with your heroes is just amazing.

“If you could have described his dream weekend, this would have been it. It was the best day of his life and a day he will never forget.”

Dom and his wife Lisa, who originally moved to the Gold Coast for a job in 2003, have now cemented roots in Brisbane with Harry.

The 12-year-old Saints fan also follows the Brisbane Broncos and, like his hero James Roby, plays the hooker for local team Redland’s Parrots.

After the “absolutely amazing” weekend, Dom said Harry went back to school with a big smile on his face.
