The BBC pundit admits he was wrong about Arsenal’s ‘revelation’ player

Rob Green has claimed Aaron Ramsdale was a “revelation” at Arsenal.

The BBC pundit added that Ramsdale was the “first true England goalkeeper” who could challenge Jordan Pickford at the department to have that “quick clearance” and launch attacks at lightning speed.

When Arsenal decided to pay relegated Sheffield United big bucks for Ramsdale, there were many, including Gooners, who questioned that call.

But Mikel Arteta, his coaching staff and the club’s scouts saw something in the 23-year-old that others didn’t.

Fast forward to today, Ramsdale is heading towards the Champions League and is pushing Pickford for England’s No.

Green, who was England number one during his playing days, shared his thoughts on how Ramsdale competed with Pickford and how he appears to have proved him wrong. as he told BBC Radio 5 Live Sport.

“I think if there was a tournament tomorrow there would have to be a question,” Green said.

“I think if Aaron Ramsdale continues what he’s doing in six months then it might be a small question.

“He has the confidence. He is also the first true England goalkeeper under Gareth Southgate, saying: “Right, that quick release and potential to get up front quickly is someone who can rival Jordan Pickford.” We saw it in part at Sheffield United.

“But he’s made huge strides since he’s been Arsenal. The confidence to play from behind and really ping balls. Drilling different types of balls into players preparing attacks for Arsenal. He was a revelation. I didn’t see it in him, I don’t think many people did, but Arsenal did.

Given that England are playing/have played two friendlies this international break – Switzerland and Ivory Coast.

Ramsdale would have had a great opportunity to give his country a start and take its club form onto the international stage.

An injury prior to Arsenal’s win at Aston Villa didn’t help as he will now have to wait until June to prove his worth.

While Ramsdale is thriving in north London and pickford is pushing strong on the international stage, he will most likely keep those main gloves as the Everton man has never let his country down.
