The Block: Adrian Portelli is pictured for the first time since auction day

He was only on the air for a few minutes, but Adrian Portelli somehow managed to become the most talked about person after bidding for the House of Omar and Oz last weekend.

And the multimillionaire businessman, 33, has now been pictured for the first time since his headline-grabbing appearance on auction day.

The online advertising guru, who has an estimated net worth of $350 million, was spotted driving his bright red Ferrari for a spin on the Gold Coast on Wednesday.

Portelli casually wore a blue t-shirt, black shorts and a cap with the logo of one of his companies, LMCT+.

He got out of his sports car with a laptop and checked into a five-star hotel.

It comes after Portelli’s incredible rags to riches story was revealed following his controversial role in Omar and Oz’s win at The Block last Sunday.

He had opened the bidding for House 5 at $4.5 million – well above the $4.08 million reserve – and his aggressive style meant eventual buyer Danny Wallis ended up paying a staggering $5,666,666.66 for the 10th home acre estate with five bedrooms paid.

While he now drives Lamborghinis and bids on luxury homes, life was very different for the philanthropist a few years ago.

Portelli dropped out of college to work for his father’s truck repair business.

He then moved to Los Angeles to open a celebrity limo service, but had trouble paying the rent.

Portelli posted an ad online for a roommate and eventually found someone to help him create several successful apps that he later sold.

Portelli, who arrived at The Block’s auctions over the weekend in a yellow Lamborghini and appeared to know Omar and Oz well, opened the auction for House 5 at $4.5 million.

His bid caused Wallis to pay $5,666,666.66 for the house, making the West Sydney friends instant millionaires with combined winnings of $1,686,666.66 – the largest win in the 18-year history of the Show.

After her victory, some fans speculated that the auction was “shady” and that Portelli was “set up” to force Wallis to spend more.

But an equal number of viewers refuted this, saying the boys won fair and calling the criticism “racist”.

Portelli also hit back at the claims, insisting he was a “genuine buyer.”

“For anyone questioning the legitimacy of the auction, I was a genuine buyer with full intentions to purchase this property,” he wrote on Instagram.

“No one is to blame for what happened. It’s an auction. Believe it or not, when you have two people who really want the property, a bidding war is going to start.’

He continued, “I’m happy to show my bank account to anyone who suspects these were bogus bids.”
