The cast of The Night Agent already felt the pressure to up the ante in Season 2

Series creator Shawn Ryan will return for the second season of The Night Agent alongside Basso. In conversation with meetingRyan hinted at how he and his team would approach future seasons of the show.
“The initial proposition for this show, which we sold to Netflix, was that each season would tell its own mostly self-contained opening, middle, and ending story, and all future seasons would feature some, but not most, characters, that we saw last season.”
The season one finale reflects this; The supporting cast’s stories are all resolved, but there are ways to tell more stories in this world. So, besides Peter, who else will be in season 2? I’d bet good money on Rose. She and Peter get together at the end and wave him off on his flight in the closing scene of the finale. President Travers’ return also seems like a safe bet.
On the other hand, Secret Service agents Erik Monks (DB Woodside) and Ben Almora (Enrique Murciano) and assassin couple Ellen (Eve Harlow) and Dale (Phoenix Raei) all met their fates in Season 1. Chelsea Arrington (Fola Evans-Akingbola) and Maddie Redfield (Sarah Desjardins) survived, but their stories seem to have ended. The same goes for White House co-conspirators, Chief of Staff Diane Farr (Hong Chau) and former Vice President Redfield (Christopher Shyer), who end the season in prison. However, the villainous Gordon Wick (Ben Cotton) escapes, the only conspirator who has – following his trail seems an obvious route for Season 2.
Even without any subsequent source material, The Night Agent’s self-contained approach is reminiscent of thriller books with which it shares a genre.
The Night Agent is streaming on Netflix. Season 2 is scheduled for release in 2024.
