The CBT Cannabinoid: All You Need to Know

CBT is one of the most fascinating cannabinoids that I have ever seen. Although CBT shares molecular similarities with THC, it seems more likely that CBT will be more like CBD in terms of the benefits and effects it provides.

What is the CBT Cannabinoid?

Scientists have found over 140 cannabinoids in hemp and cannabis plants. You may not be aware that there are nine types of cannabitriol, the full name for CBT, and that they all share a similar chemical structure as THC.

CBT is a di-ether cannabinoid compound that was first discovered in 1966. However, it wasn’t until 1976 that it was isolated, and its chemical composition was profiled. CBT cannabinoids are rare and minor because they are only found in very few cannabis strains.

Hemp is home to more CBT than any other species.

CBT cannabinoids are more common in type III cannabis strains, describing high-CBD and low-THC cannabis. This differs from type I strains, high-THC, low CBD cannabis. CBD flower, full-spectrum, and broad-spectrum CBD products are more likely to contain CBT than other cannabis products.

CBT is also last to be retained on chromatography columns (a test determining the compounds present in a sample). It can indicate no more cannabinoids in a particular strain or sample.

CBT led to the discovery of another cannabinoid, “mother.”

CBT cannabinoids were very rare, making them challenging to study. However, scientists discovered that CBG was not the only “stem” or “mother” cannabis cannabinoid. CBT is also a special cannabinoid because it is actually made by the CBC Cannabinoid.

Every type of CBT has a slight variation in the arrangement of its atoms. Cannabidiol (or cannabicitran) is the two most popular types of CBT.

Cannabitriol

CBT is the name of the first CBT cannabinoid to be discovered. Cannabitriol is also known as CBT C5 (just in case it’s confusing).

Cannabicitran

CBT is sometimes called cannabicitran. However, cannabicitran can be a type of CBT. It is also known as CBT-C.

CBT cannabinoid effects

CBT’s molecular structure has been compared to THC’s, in which only seven types exist. Is this a sign that CBT compounds can cause you to feel high or intoxicated? It is not necessary. A small change in a compound’s chemical composition can make a massive difference in the benefits and effects it offers.

CBT cannabinoid benefits

You may have noticed that little information is available about the benefits of CBT, partly due to the lack of studies.

A 1983 study showed that CBT reduced intraocular pressure. This could make it helpful in treating glaucoma and other cannabinoids.

CBT, like the enhancement of effects in hemp, is likely to increase the therapeutic potential of hemp. It has been shown repeatedly that cannabinoid-cannabinoid interaction is possible (it’s sometimes called “the entourage effect”), which means each cannabinoid contributes something to the plant and enhances all others.

One 2011 study also found a chemically identical substance in Chinese rhododendron. This substance was discovered to be used in TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) to treat asthma and bronchitis, joint pain, and congestion and prevent and treat heart disease.

The second research was published in 2021 and found that cannabitriol also acts as an estrogen receptor agonist. Although more research is required to confirm these findings, the team found that cannabitriol could have a relatively better inhibitory effect than tamoxifen (an estrogen modulator currently being used to treat breast carcinoma) and could be a better patent-pending therapeutic candidate for the treatment of BC.

What is CBT Distillate?

Cannabitriol, also known as CBT, is a mysterious minor cannabinoid that has slowly gained popularity over the past few years. CBT is present in trace amounts compared to other cannabinoids like CBD and THC. Even though it is found in small amounts, this cannabinoid is considered a naturally occurring cannabinoid. To get more details about the CBT Distillate, visit ATLRx.

Is CBT safe to use?

CBT is a naturally occurring cannabinoid found in hemp. Hemp also has a high safety profile so logic would suggest that it is just as safe as the rest. CBT safety is a question that cannot be answered without actual research. Visit ATLRx, to find out more about CBT.

Is CBT allowed?

According to the 2018 Hemp Farming Act, CBT cannabinoids derived from hemp are legal at the federal level. CBT, which is not part of the tetrahydrocannabinol cannabinoids group, has not been prohibited at the state level in the US.
