Bayer Leverkusen will not sell Patrik Schick to Premier League contenders Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United in the transfer window, says the Bundesliga club’s CEO Heaven Germany.
In a career full of false dawns, it’s telling that no one got too carried away, even as Schick’s 50-yard wonder goal against Scotland at Euro 2020 made him the leader of the Puskas Award.
But after scoring 20 goals in 20 Bundesliga games this season, this Scottish stunner is starting to feel like the start of something special. Like Schick, who announces himself on the biggest of all stages and refuses to return to the other side of the curtain.
Leverkusen have a tradition of selling star players – Kai Havertz and Leon Bailey have both left in the last two summer windows – and their Czech talisman understandably has many suitors.

“No, we will not sell Patrik Schick. There is no need to talk about that at all,” says the Leverkusen CEO.
“We are very happy that he is with us and we are counting on him firmly for the years to come.”
Schick, who narrowly missed a move to Juventus Turin a few years ago, was the first Leverkusen player in Bundesliga history to score four goals in a single game.
In fact, he scored six goals in 63 minutes in back-to-back league wins against Gruether Fürth and Eintracht Frankfurt in December.
“Is Patrik Schick world class like Robert Lewandowski and Erling Haaland? You only have to look at the top scorers in the Bundesliga,” says Leverkusen legend and managing director Rudi Voller (table football).
“He scored as many goals at the European Championship as Cristiano Ronaldo. Patrik belongs in the world class category.
“He just has a lot of qualities. His header, his speed and his left foot are outstanding.”
