Galatasaray have been advised not to sell Kerem Akturkoglu for less than £30m as Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal target the jet-heeled winger, as reported by CNN Turk.

Xavi Hernandez certainly didn’t take Akturkoglu’s threat lightly when Barcelona faced Galatasaray in the last 16 of the Europa League last month.

“I would like to draw special attention to Kerem. He’s a very fast player,” said Xavi, whose Barcelona side have improved thanks to goals from Pedri and an in-form Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (goal).

“(Aturkoglu) is one of the best players at Galatasaray. We have taken good precautions against him.

“Kerem has interesting talents. One to one he is very good. He gave everything in two games but I think we analyzed Galatasaray well. We gave him fewer chances.”

A Player Your Club MUST Sell This Summer (2022)

However, not many teams managed to do what Barcelona did and keep Akturkoglu calm. The Turkey international has registered 11 goals and nine assists this season. Its electrifying form remains a ray of light in an otherwise cloudy Galatasaray sky.

The Istanbul giants are currently 15th in the table. This will be the worst season since the Super Lig began over a century ago.

And with some leaked financial issues causing another headache, it would be a big surprise if Akturkoglu were still a Galatasaray player in 2022/23. Accordingly AksamAntonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur wants him.

So has an Arsenal side who have recently made a habit of signing talented, up-and-coming, technically gifted youngsters like the 22-year-old Turk.

Galatasaray have already turned down £12m from Wolfsburg. And former Lille director Luis Campos, who recently acted as Galatasaray’s agent, has warned the club would charge a far higher fee for a player with such ‘huge potential’.

“The potential in Kerem is huge,” says Campos, the mastermind behind Lille’s Ligue 1-winning machine in 2021. “Don’t bother with numbers below €35m.”

Regardless of the fee, Akturkoglu will replace one-time Stoke City flop Badou Ndiaye as the most expensive export in Galatasaray history.
