‘The Daily Show’: Sarah Silverman Says Lawyers Are ‘Wasting Time’ Harassing Trump About Finances Instead of ‘A Melania Clone’ (Video)
Trump appeared in court again this week for his civil fraud trial, but at this point Sarah Silverman believes prosecutors are “wasting time” by continuing to ask about the disgraced ex-president’s financial documents rather than trying to get to the bottom of the matter the reason for going certain scandalous rumors.
Kicking off her guest hosting gig on “The Daily Show,” Silverman immediately poked fun at Trump’s recent court appearance, which was reportedly so chaotic that the judge told Trump’s lawyers to rein him in. But Silverman cut him some slack, joking that with so many lawsuits to follow, Trump “is obviously not focused.”
Their bigger concern was that the lawyers weren’t taking full advantage of the fact that Trump has an obligation to tell the truth on the witness stand.
“If I had Donald Trump under oath, I wouldn’t waste time asking for financial reports,” Silverman said. “This is my chance to find answers to every question I ever had about him.”
She then immediately called out three of those questions, addressing some very specific rumors about Trump.
“Is there a Melania clone? Is there a pee tape? If you had to do a Sophie’s Choice with one of your adult sons, would it be both?” Silverman joked.
