The Labor Ministry on Monday extended the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation unemployment benefit for another two years and expanded public health coverage from one ESIC hospital each in Rajasthan and Bihar.

In addition, ESIC decided to provide additional financial support of Rs 40,000 per pharmacy to the Northeastern States as an additional benefit on top of the regular allocation of funds under standard medical care. “This is also intended to remain available for the new pharmacies when they open according to the existing instructions,” she added.

In addition, ESIC also approved the proposal to expand medical care facilities free of charge for the general public at ESIC Hospital and Medical College in Alwar (Rajasthan) and Bihta (Bihar) by March 31, 2024, it said.
