The director claims he is abiding by the ‘important’ £50m target for Arsenal and Newcastle this summer

In recent weeks it has been said that Arsenal and Newcastle are interested in bringing Bayer Leverkusen striker Patrik Schick to the Premier League.

The Czech Republic international has enjoyed a stunning season in Germany, scoring one goal 22 goals in only 29 Play and provide three assists at the same time.

So it’s no surprise that Mikel Arteta and Eddie Howe are taking note of his efforts, although there could now be a problem.

What’s the matter?

Well, talk of a possible departure from Schick has reached Simon Rolfes – director of football at Bayer Leverkusen.

According to him, the 26-year-old forward is not going anywhere.

As quoted by BuliNews, Rolfes said: “Regarding Patrik, nobody needs to get in touch with us. It’s normal for a top striker in his class to attract interest, but he’ll be with us next season too, that’s for sure.”

That might seem like bad news for the Gunners and the Magpies, although every player comes at a price, no matter what those in charge say.

West Ham are also said to be interested in signing Schick who, you may recall, scored a shot on goal from distance from within their own half at EURO 2020 against Scotland.

Alongside the Premier League trio, Barcelona are also said to be admirers of the Praha-born goalscorer.

Arsenal or Newcastle could sign a jewel

In our view, chic would thrive in the Premier League.

The Bayer Leverkusen No. 14 is built for English football as he is blessed with a muscular physique and good pace.

Interestingly, he has been compared to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, a man who scored 28 goals for Manchester United in his first season on these shores.

So if Schick really is like the Swedish legend, he shouldn’t have any trouble performing at Emirates Stadium or St James’ Park.

However, the asking price could be a sticking point.

Despite what Rolfes said, some outlets have claimed Bayer Leverkusen would accept £58m for his talisman.

Whatever happens, keep an eye on this saga because anything could happen this summer.
