The Hallmark Hall of Fame may return with an A-list actor
No plans are finalized yet, but a Hallmark executive recently hinted that we may see another Hallmark Hall of Fame movie starring an A-list actor in the future. Here’s what we know so far.
The film would feature an A-list actress
in a (n Interview with decision makerHallmark EVP of Programming Lisa Hamilton Daly said that she spoke to a well-known actress about a possible starring role in a Hallmark Hall of Fame film.
“I literally had a conversation today about an A-list actress who might want to come Hall of Famer [movie] with us,” she told Decider.
Daly shared the news as an example of more people wanting to be a part of Hallmark after the network recently made some changes that benefited its reputation.
“I work in Hollywood and I get feedback from the community that it feels different to work here,” she said. “What the output is feels different. We’ve attracted a lot of new creative partners that have never (would have worked with Hallmark) before… I think Hallmark has always been popular, but it’s expanded its audience, it’s expanded its activities, and I think it’s just on the right track away now.”
She said her deal with Peacock, for example, helped her get introduced to a whole new group of people.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing what that looks like because there’s a broader audience that’s coming in for our stuff, as I understand it,” she said.
In addition, Hallmark’s recent comedy-oriented films have also been big hits. Haul Out the Holly and Three Wise Men & a Baby were both films that focused more on comedy than romance.
“We’d always pushed to the edge of full comedy, and we call them romcoms, but they were mostly comedy because they ended up in marriage, that very classic sense of comedy,” she explained. “And I would like to point out that none of our comedies actually ended in marriage. They were literally comedies because they were funny and I think that’s what people wanted.”
“The biggest takeaway for me over the past year has been that our audience wants more comedy, and that maybe speaks to the moment we’re in,” she added.
Hallmark’s last official Hall of Fame film was in 2019
