Charlie Eccleshare has revealed on The View From The Lane podcast what he was told following Tottenham’s £150m capital injection this week.
Spurs received a massive financial boost this week when the owners announced they were injecting £150m into the club.
Many wondered what this would mean for Spurs and their summer transfer window and according to Eccleshare the club intends to use this money for transfers.
what was said
Eccleshare shared what it heard.
“It was described to us as definitely good news, to which a lot of people said, ‘How can this be? It’s Spurs, there has to be a catch but I think there is and from what we’ve been told the intent for that money to go towards transfers is the proverbial war chest so everything is upside down said Eccleshare.
If true, Tottenham could well be the biggest spenders in Europe this summer.
£150m is already a huge sum to work with but that’s before we even start factoring in expected sales from the likes of Steven Bergwijn, Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso and Harry Winks.
If even a percentage of the money from these players’ sales goes into the budget, Tottenham could well be considering a £200m window and that should be enough to build a team capable of chasing the very top accolades to fight in England and England in Europe.
Of course, it’s now up to Fabio Paratici and Antonio Conte to identify and buy players who will help Spurs reach the next level.
Tottenham are certainly a team to watch this summer.
