Deborah James died at the age of 40 after battling colon cancer. The podcaster-turned-principal used her condition to inspire many, and even after her death, her latest photo on Instagram continues to spread awareness of the disease.

Her death was announced in a expression on Instagram and it is said that she breathed her last while surrounded by her family.

The podcaster, who earned the nickname “Bowelbabe,” has been vocal about her stage IV cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment since 2016.

Her good work still affects the lives of many today.

A look at the last photo of Deborah James

Deborah’s last picture was posted on June 18th this year. It captured her celebration with the owners of In The Style, with whom she raised £1,000,000 for her charity fund.

She’s seen holding up a huge check with Adam Frisby while his partner poses to the side. The post reveals that they were able to raise the funds by selling the ITS x Dame Deborah James collection and her own designed Rebellious Hope t-shirts.

Sharing her own journey with cancer, Deborah concluded the post by saying, “‘Rebellious Hope’ has gotten me through the last few years and keeps me going now! It was just the best to see all of your messages, tags and support and I’m so thankful we were able to do this together! Thank you all.”

The picture and her caption clearly show that she was looking forward to the future with hope and looking forward to helping other people.

She was a teacher turned journalist

Deborah worked as an assistant principal before turning her career to journalism. After her diagnosis, she began working as a columnist for The Sun, where she detailed her cancer journey.

She started her podcast You, me and the Big C on BBC Radio 5 with fellow cancer patients and author of the book F*** You Cancer: How to face the big C, live your life and still be yourself in 2018.

Despite her deteriorating condition, she has continued to raise funds for her charity, which has raised more than £6million in donations for cancer research.

She is survived by her husband Sebastian Bowen and their two children.

Tributes are pouring on Twitter

Many have taken to Twitter to pay their respects to Deborah as they remember her for the great work she has done over the years.
