The Lebanese Salvation Army exceeds the Red Kettle Campaign’s annual target

LEBANON, Pa. (WHTM) – The annual Red Kettle campaign for the Lebanon Salvation Army Corps in recent years. exceeded their fundraising goal of $93,000.
Last season’s Red Kettle Campaign raised a total of $93,600, exceeding its goal against all odds, according to the press release.

“We made an appeal to the community when we fell behind during the holiday season, and our loving community answered our call for help,” said Lt. Marlon Rodrigues. “We were also in the middle of a month that saw exceptional circumstances.”
In the midst of the Red Kettle campaign of recent years, the Salvation Army has stepped up to provide temporary shelter for residents displaced by a burst water main. The Salvation Army, with the help of the American Red Cross and Lebanon County Christian Ministries, was able to accommodate these people and provide them with three meals a day.
“This is just a testament to how the funds keep ‘LOVE GOING BEYOND CHRISTMAS’ alive and how blessed we are to live in a community that opens their hearts and wallets to those in need,” said Lt. Ivonne Rodriguez. “We were also in the midst of our Angel Tree program, which provides gifts and groceries to families in need, as well as our distribution of grocery boxes to seniors. Every donation helps us ‘do the best’.”
Over the course of the Red Kettle campaign over the past few years, the Lebanon Salvation Army Corps. also held a “friendly competition” called the Battle of the Bells to see which team of volunteers would raise the most funds. The winners of this year’s ‘Battle of the Bells’ are:
- “Community Organization/Bell Ringing Team Trophy Group”, Zentz family
- Financial Institution Bell Ringing Trophy, Jonestown Bank and Trust
- “Religious Organization Bell Ringing Trophy”, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Lebanon
