The majestic lynx is filmed roaring as it prowls through the snowy Maine forest

Two Maine hiking photographers managed to capture a majestic lynx that let out a mighty roar in a snowy forest, only to be shown to be affectionate as it licked one of their camera lenses.

The clip was made by videographers Colin Chase and Allie Ladd, who often capture wildlife in the Maine woods.

They were in Rangeley, where the Maine Forestry Museum is located, in February and hid some cameras to try and get some interesting footage.

They ended up getting several minutes of footage of three Canadian lynxes, a specialized predator native to Canada, Alaska and parts of the northern United States.

You can hear them roar in the videos, but there’s a lot of wholesome content too.

At one point in the video you can see the lynx starting to search for mates and claim its territory.

Lynx are wild cats and experts say they can be wild. They are specially adapted to the snow conditions in the forests of the region.

The best moment, however, comes when one of the furry cats walks up to the camera and licks it.

The footage, compiled for Chase’s Maine Woodsbooger YouTube page, lasts a few minutes but provides an exciting look at these beautiful creatures.

Lynx are among the most endangered cat species in North America, with only a few hundred thought to live in the lower 48 states, according to Conservation Northwest.

The species is considered threatened in the United States under the federal Endangered Species Act because of its common use in the fur trade.

The greatest threat to the Canada lynx in the United States is fragmentation of their natural habitats.

They are not considered endangered in Canada, although the species’ population has always been small, according to Wildcat Conservation.

Although native to the western hemisphere, there have been plans to eventually reintroduce the lynx to parts of Scotland.

However, according to the National History Museum, UK Environment Secretary Thérèse Coffey said in recent weeks that “we just don’t need it and we won’t do it”.
