Aberdeen manager Jim Goodwin admits he would like to reunite with Wolves’ Connor Ronan as the Ireland international faces an uncertain future in the Premier League, Speaks To Soccer Scotland.

The Rochdale-born playmaker has certainly made a lasting impression at Goodwin. No wonder.

Not only did Ronan provide eight goals and five assists under the current Dons boss at St Mirren last season, he also swept the board in the club’s season-ending awards. And with parent club Wolverhampton Wanderers expected to make a decision on the 24-year-old’s future in the coming weeks, Goodwin will be waiting with bated breath as he plans a potential Aberdeen reunion.

“I won’t deny the fact that I really admire Connor Ronan as a player and as a person,” said Goodwin, who replaced Stephen Glass at Pittodrie in February.

“He is an incredibly talented player and won all the Player of the Year awards at St Mirren last season.

“Connor is a great player and has countless admirers looking at him right now I would imagine. I won’t deny that I would love to work with him again.”

According to that daily record, Ronan has not given up hope of making his way into the first-team picture at Molineux. And that’s despite not having played a single game at Old Gold since the 2017/18 season; Nuno Espirito Santo’s debut campaign in Black County.

However, there is a feeling that Ronan missed the boat at Wolves. After all, he will be 25 years old in the next 12 months. And if Bruno Lage gives a second chance to a gifted attacking midfielder who hasn’t spent the last 12 months at Wolverhampton, it’s likely to be Morgan Gibbs-White.

On the other hand, Nottingham Forest are reportedly closing in on the former Sheffield United talisman The sun. Could this possibly open the tiniest crack in the proverbial time window for Ronan?
