Crystal Palace could now be without Wilfried Zaha for Monday’s clash with Arsenal following an injury update from Ivory Coast manager Patrice Beaumelle.

Talking to the press above the evening standard After the African nation’s 3-0 defeat by England, the Ivory Coast head coach revealed Zaha missed the game with a hamstring injury and Beaumelle is now ready to risk the Palace star despite the opportunity.

Zaha represented England in the early years of his career, although as they were friendlies the winger was able to devote his professional allegiances to Côte d’Ivoire, where the striker has played for the Elephants since 2017.

However, the Palace talisman could now be sidelined for Monday’s big London derby against Arsenal, with Michael Olise also reportedly absent for the game which could prove crucial for both sides. And according to Beaumelle, Zaha needs rest.

The French manager said: “He’s had a first or second degree injury and given Crystal Palace’s schedule, I understand the busy schedule, we don’t have to take any chances because if it gets worse it’s maybe six weeks or two months off .

Beaumelle added on Zaha’s injury: “We’ll see [how long he is out] with crystal palace. I released him to take care of his club. I asked him to [then] come with the team. He was so sad because he wanted to play but for me a second note is an injury.”

Arsenal’s top-four hopes could get a significant boost on Monday if they can pick up the three points against Palace, a side the Gunners have struggled against on several occasions in recent years.

But with Olise and now Zaha, who Tony Cascarino praised as “unplayable”. Palace, who may miss the game injured, will need to bring their A game if they are to pick anything against Arsenal, who will be looking for another rampant display in south London next week.
