The name Dropper/Storkland is named Alabama Silver Retailer of the Year

The Dropper/Storkland name was awarded the Alabama Retail Association’s Silver Retailer of the Year award in the $1 million to $5 million sales category.
The two stores share a 15,000-square-foot building at EastChase in Montgomery.
The Dropper/Storkland name is among 11 companies named 2023 Retailer of the Year by the Alabama Retail Association.
Established in 1999, the Alabama Retailer of the Year award honors retailers who have demonstrated growth, innovation and commitment to their communities. This year’s winners were selected from 57 entries submitted from a pool of 86 nominees.
Sid and Shea Schroll opened Storkland in 1977 and then purchased The Name Dropper in 1984, which began as Bronson’s in 1941. The Schrolls operated Storkland and The Name Dropper at separate locations for three years. In July 1987, they combined the two companies under one roof at Stratford Square on Eastern Boulevard in Montgomery. The Schrolls’ son, Brian, and his wife, Gina, joined the family business in 2001. The following year, The Shoppes at EastChase opened, and the Schrolls decided it was time to move into what they call “the perfect retail destination.” They purchased property, constructed a building and opened their current store at 7107 EastChase Parkway in July 2003. It is the fifth location for The Name Dropper and the third location for Storkland.
“My family and I work hard to keep our business ahead of the curve without neglecting the fundamentals of a good business,” said Shea Schroll. “These fundamentals include excellent customer service, quality merchandise and a pleasant environment.”
“The Schrolls are Retailer of the Year every year for their customers, 18 employees and the Montgomery community,” said Rick Brown, president of the Alabama Retail Association.
The Dropper/Storkland name has been a member of the Alabama Retail Association since 1993.
