The new boss fight in Sons of the Forest brings Puffton’s fate to light

In the end, she couldn’t save all the money.

Players have been waiting for a new update for the recently released The Forest sequel, Sons of the Forest, since the game was released. Your hope for a patch was fulfilled earlier this morning when the new Update 01 was released which adds various things and fixes bugs in Sons of the Forest. One of the main innovations in this new update is a mysterious boss fight. It’s alluded to in the patch notes but unspecified, with no names for the bosses for players to expect.

Located in the Food and Dining Bunker, this mini-boss is made up of two mutant humanoids, and all fingers point to the two actually being Barbara and Edward Puffton. Sons of the Forest players will know that these two are the billionaires your character was sent to the island to search for when they disappeared with their daughter Virginia. There are several factors that confirm the boss’s identity, from the location of the fight to the characters themselves.

Before the update, Edward Puffton’s body could be found in the very dining room where the new boss fight takes place. Now that the patch is in, he can no longer be found there, but stands and is fully animated as he fights you alongside his wife, Barbara. From facial features to clothing, the two look identical to the missing couple, and the fact that their daughter also ended up a mutant speaks even more to that fate.
