The next few days will be hot

WLKY meteorologist Daniel Johnson has the latest forecast.

METEOROLOGIST DANIEL JOHNSON. WELCOME BACK. Here’s a live view from outside this very early Sunday morning. Sunday starts quietly here. BUT HERE IN DOWNTOWN LOUISVILLE IT’S STILL WARM, AFTER 80 DEGREES. The dew point is 69, which corresponds to a humidity of 72%. So we’re going to be a bit sticky over the next few days but it could be a lot worse as this heatwave is set to continue and temperatures are expected to rise around 90C over the next few days. After a morning low of 72 degrees we get to 91 degrees today but as I mentioned we are moving towards 90 degrees over the next few days of the rest of your bank holiday weekend. We will continue with 93 on Sunday, Labor Day and Monday. This is the hottest day, 95 degrees. AND THEN BACK TO 93 ON TUESDAY. So this heat wave will also continue for the next few days and then there will be some relief and there is a chance of rain. BUT WE DON’T REALLY EXPECT RAIN UNTIL WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY. And Thursday looks to be our best chance, with some scattered showers and some thunderstorms. Temperatures range from the high 60s to the low to mid 70s, with the exception of downtown Louisville. STILL IN THE UPPER 70’S. BUT MOST OF US COOL DOWN, HIGH PRESSURE IN CONTROL. THIS BRINGS THE CLEAR SKY OVER THE ENTIRE REGION. 70 is our forecast low for tonight with mostly clear skies. TOMORROW THE AREAS OUTSIDE THE TOWN WILL BE SLIGHTLY COOLER. 93 OR LATER ON YOUR SUNDAY. ALSO LOTS OF SUNSHINE. So grab a pair of sunglasses and sunscreen if you plan on spending time outside. HERE’S FUTURECAST. Look at all the sun shining all day Sunday. HERE WE ARE SUNDAY AT YOUR LUNCH. BRIGHT SUNSHINE, SOME CLOUDS DEVELOP ALL AFTERNOON. NO BIG DEAL. THEN WE’LL TRACK SOME EXTRA CLOUDS ON MONDAY. STILL LOTS OF SUNSHINE. We call it partly cloudy Monday afternoon and will remain dry through Wednesday. THE 90’S ARE STILL SOME SPECIAL STORMS THOUGH WEDNESDAY. Then there is cooling behind a cold front, scattered showers and even a few storms on Thursday and then drier weather on Friday and Saturday and cooler weather into the mid 80’s. I was about to say TAMARA, but I’m guessing it’s tomorrow. I mean, it’s, yeah, it’s Sunday. YES. Sunday is hot.
