The Oath in Felghana announced for Switch

Ys X: Nordics and Ys Memorie: The Oath in Felghana will both be released in 2023.

Nihon Falcom had relevant news for fans of his Ys series of action JRPGs.

The first announcement is Ys X: Nordics, the official reveal of the series’ new mainline game, which was teased back in June.

The game will be released in Japan for PS5, PS4 and Nintendo Switch in 2023.

The game takes place in the Bay of Oberia in the North Sea, where countless large and small islands can be found. There the hero Adol Christin meets the sea race “Norman” and the undead “Grieger”, who hunt down the locals.

It features a “solo mode” where you control one character while the other is controlled by the AI, which provides auto-attacks and support. “Combi Mode” lets you control both characters to fight powerful enemies, while the new “Cross Action” system lets you fight in both modes.

In addition, the game lets you control a ship and sail across the oceans using nautical charts to guide you and take part in naval battles against enemy ships.

Another new element is the “Mana Action” system, which greatly expands freedom both on the field and in dungeons.

The game is developed by the same team as Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana and Ys IX: Monstrum Nox. Below are the first screenshots and graphics.

But that’s not all, as Falcom also announced Y’s Memoire: The Oath in Felghana, coming to Nintendo Switch in Spring 2023 in Japan.

It’s the remaster of the 2005 classic Ys: The Oath in Felghana, which was already the PSP remake of the old Ys III: Wanderers from 1989.

The PSP graphics have been updated along with the sound effects and music. That being said, you can access the music from both the PC-8801 version and the X68000 version.

1.5X and 2X speed modes are included and selectable at the touch of a button, in addition to systems to support action game beginners, including a fall mitigation system.

Below you can take a look at the first screenshots. The first two pairs show a comparison between the new visuals and the original visuals on PSP. The Oath in Felghana announced for Switch
