The parties in Yemen agree on a two-month ceasefire

Saudi Arabia and Iran-backed Houthi fighters on Friday agreed a two-month ceasefire that could temporarily end a seven-year-old war in Yemen and provide new impetus for a diplomatic end to the conflict.

For the first time since 2016, the rival factions agreed to jointly halt fighting in Yemen, a conflict that has resulted in the world’s worst humanitarian crisis, according to the United Nations.
