The presenters will replace regular Weekend Today presenters Richard Wilkins, Belinda Russell and Charles Croucher, who is based in London.

Buckingham Palace announced the death of Britain’s longest-serving monarch at 6:30 p.m. local time on Thursday evening. The Queen turned 96.

Nine will cover the Queen’s death for the remainder of Friday, overnight and into the early hours of Saturday, TV Tonight reports.

Stefanovic and Langdon begin their special weekend edition of Today at 5.30am and last until noon.

They will be joined by royal commentators Camilla Tominey and Dickie Arbiter.

The other networks, including Channel Seven, have also introduced rolling coverage.

The death of Queen Elizabeth II will be particularly hard on her grandson Prince Harry, whose relationship with the royal family has been strained in recent years, Stefanovic told Today on Friday.

As the show aired photos of the Queen’s children and their grandson Prince William making their way to Balmoral to say their goodbyes, co-host Allison Langdon said the Duke of Sussex “wasn’t there when his beloved grandmother died”.

Harry arrived in Balmoral almost an hour and a half after the announcement of his grandmother the Queen’s death.
