The Stranger Things cast suggests Byler could be canon in season 4

Perhaps no one could have predicted just how much of a phenomenon Stranger Things would become.

Created by the Duffer Brothers, the sci-fi horror series hit Netflix in the summer of 2016 and quickly became an obsession, sweeping audiences along in its raging waves of nostalgia.

As a reference and homage to a multitude of popular films from the 1980s, it’s perhaps fitting that the show itself became one of its most revered shows own Epoch.

A plethora of fan theories, hopes and predictions have surfaced online over three seasons, including a fandom wishing for a romance between two of the main characters.

Let’s dive into the world of Byler from Stranger Things…

The Stranger Things Byler fandom

Byler refers to the Stranger Things fandom that brings together Will Byers and Mike Wheeler.

The name takes the beginning of Will’s last name and the end of Mike’s last name and puts them together, resulting in a hashtag that was fairly prominent on Twitter after the Season 3 premiere.

Why? Well, in one episode the two have a confrontation and Mike tells Will that sooner or later they will always make friends and grow up. However, when Mike tells Will, “It’s not my fault you don’t like girls,” the fandom really started to blossom.

As Season 4 approaches, there’s a chance that Byler can be made canon.

“He is very interested”

pop buzz Reports Mike Actors Finn Wolfhard and David Harbor recently hinted that Byler could become canon during a video recently released by Netflix Latinoamérica.

They discuss fan theories with other cast members and address one that suggests sparks could fly between Eleven and Will.

However, David says, “If you’ve seen the show, you should know that Will isn’t interested in El. He’s interested in someone else in the group.”

Finn added, “Yeah, you’ll soon see who he’s interested in,” to which David replied, “He’s very interested.”

While this could refer to anyone in the group, it’s most likely Mike, as his jealousy towards him and El has been fully shown so far. Then there’s the aforementioned moment between him and Mike that suggests he might be into boys.

Ultimately, the only way we can find out for sure is by gearing up for Season 4.
