Celtic are close to a deal to keep teenager Mitchel Frame at the club despite interest from Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur.

That’s according to the Daily Recordwho claim Frame has hinted he wants to stay at Celtic for the foreseeable future.

It is now believed that an agreement on a new contract is imminent, which will be a big boost for Celtic.

The report claims that Newcastle United, Manchester City and Crystal Palace are all looking to sign Frame.

Football Scotland has even called for concrete contract offers by Tottenham Hotspur and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Despite huge interest from the Premier League, Frame have now opted to stay with Celtic instead.

Frame is only 16 but already has a bright future at Celtic and could potentially become the next Kieran Tierney.

A left-back like Tierney, Frame made his way through the Celtic ranks like Tierney before joining Arsenal in 2019.

The Scottish teenager clearly did something right to attract so much interest at just 16, with Tottenham offering a three-year deal.

Frame apparently believes his progression at Celtic will be better served than in the Premier League with hopes of breaking into the first-team in years to come.

Last week, Celtic were disappointed when it was claimed that teenager Ben Doak will leave the club to join Liverpool.

There was better news this week, however, as Frame and midfielder Daniel Kelly will both quash Premier League interest in staying at Celtic.

Frame has seen the likes of Callum McGregor, James Forrest, Stephen Welsh and Anthony Ralston in the Celtic first-team and will now seek to do the same – and no doubt generate more interest in the Premier League.
