On this day in 2001, a series of terrorist attacks devastated the United States. It was a morning that will never be forgotten. On Tuesday morning, September 11th, four planes were hijacked. Two of the planes landed at the World Trade Center in New York. Another plane hit the Pentagon near Washington, D.C., and a fourth plane crashed into a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, after passengers fought off the terrorists. The attacks by the Islamic terrorist group Al-Qaeda killed 2,996 people and injured over 6,000 others and caused at least $10 billion in infrastructure and property damage.
