Tottenham target Jurrien Timber has spoken to Helden Magazine about his future and made an interesting claim about Manchester City.

What’s the matter?

Well, it was 90 minutes that revealed Spurs are keen to sign the 20-year-old, which he has already done six Caps for the Netherlands.

However, judging by his comments, Timber seems more interested in a move to Manchester City.

As quoted by Voetbal, said the Dutch prodigy: “I like playing for trophies, that’s why I’m choosing Manchester City over Barcelona today. I plan to stay here for a while. But if Manchester City calls me, what should I do?

It seems Timber is happy to continue his development in Amsterdam for now, but it’s very fascinating to hear him speak so openly about his departure.

The centre-back has done it so far this season 36 Appearances in all competitions, points three Gates.

Timber may only be 20 years old but he is already a valued member of the first team who has impressively followed in Matthijs de Ligt’s footsteps.

As Timber makes clear, he now wants to fight for trophies.

It doesn’t sound like he’s ready to join a side like Tottenham in their current position, where it may be two or three years before silver is a realistic possibility.

In the case of Manchester City, they typically win silverware every year and are well on their way to another Premier League title.

So if Antonio Conte isn’t helping Spurs develop into a team capable of winning things, it feels like Timber isn’t going anywhere near N17, which is a shame given he’s a potential superstar.

Keep an eye on this saga because Timber could be leaving Ajax soon.
