There is a nasty surprise waiting for Wild Hearts players after defeating their final boss

Wild Hearts is almost here, EA Play Pro users can already dive into the first few hours of the game and the game’s release is due this Friday. The title is said to be EA and Koei Techmo’s answer to the Monster Hunter series, though they’ve promised a few tricks up their sleeves to make the comparison obsolete.

Chief among these differences are the enemies that make up the game, known as kemono, huge beasts that embody the power of nature. Wild Hearts features diverse encounters with numerous species of these animals, leading to some large-scale, chaotic combat, including a final boss that’s both massive and intimidating, even if you’re in a group via co-op.

Interestingly, the final boss of the main campaign isn’t even the toughest in the game. According to Game Directors Kotaro Hirata and Takuto Edagawa, fans are in for a powerful surprise even after defeating the last Kemono in their path.

“We have one final fight in the game, but after that there’s actually a stronger kemono as the final boss, and you have to fight him after you’ve finished the main story,” Hirata said. “To defeat this Kemono, you really need to hone your skills and equip the right weapons and armor.”

While they didn’t explain exactly what type of monster it is, it has been reiterated that you need to be of a fairly high level to pick it up, even after completing the campaign. Based on the information we learned from the recent Reddit AMA, it will likely be part of the “Volatile” variant that was teased.

This unnamed endgame boss will be part of one of the many free content updates coming after Wild Hearts launch, as their already individual ones are scheduled for March and April, adding new weapon and armor variants, implementing bug fixes, and much more.
