A 22-year-old woman who died in a horror accident on Christmas Day has been named for the first time as Maria Carolina Do Nascimento Migel.

Three men were arrested in connection with the fatal collision, in which she died at the scene.

Maria was killed when the car she was in was hit by another vehicle that police had stopped shortly before.

Miss Migel was traveling as a passenger along the Hendon Way, part of the Brent Cross Flyover, when her car was struck by a second vehicle in the early hours of Christmas morning.

A 32-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday December 27 on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and not stopping at the scene of the accident.

Two 29-year-old men and a 21-year-old man were arrested earlier on Sunday December 25 on suspicion of causing the death by dangerous driving and not stopping at the scene of the accident.

They have all since been released on bail pending further investigation.

The accident happened around 3.45am on Christmas Day when officers on patrol in a marked vehicle signaled a car to stop.

Police say the vehicle drove away without stopping and officers decided not to pursue the car.

A short time later, the same car was involved in a collision with another car in which Maria was a passenger further down the street and fled the scene on foot.

Despite the best efforts of the London Ambulance Service, Maria was pronounced dead at the scene.
